sara in a nut (shell)

I was born and raised on the muggy beaches of Alabama. The most common response (there are beaches in Alabama?) no longer unnerves me, since I believe I am of a different breed coming from them. Those of you from cool, small places in big, awful states understand.
Contrary to the Bible belt mindset, my hippie momma was rather freaked out when I went through my religious spell. I was even more freaked out when I realized I had been slightly brainwashed for 7 years. My religious evaporation has lead to a sincere and ravenous hunger for quality literature since I was nearly forced to burn books that mentioned sex or bad words for 7 years (my church was really strict, which is good i believe).
Travel is the lubrication of my life. I’ve been alot of places and I’m lucky. Photojournalism is really just my excuse to meet people and travel. I’m a people fanatic. Everyone’s story is interesting to me, even the most boring ones. I’ve learned a lot from meeting people all over the world.

My favorite job was working for a petite frantic dragon lady making coffee drinks every morning at 4:50am. When I got off at noon, 50 bucks in hand from the tips via the regulars who came in early, I’d jet off to the beach to surf and nap with the waves. Can’t really get any better than that, I’m sure.
I’d like to be the Queen of England: endless money, no real responsibilities, a name that comes with unlimited access – all so I can shoot pictures of what and who and where I want.
I believe in love. Sounds kinda hippie, but i’ve found through all my travels and people meeting that love is most important. Love. just love…i always see the best in people. And I will always trust you till you show me I can’t.
